Is this a virtual golf club?

No, we have negotiated very competitive rates due to the volume of members that we have. Your membership therefore is with a "physical" golf club and this selected club will be printed on your official handicap card so that you have proof of your membership with that club. What is an affiliated rate?

When you become a member of a golf club you receive discounted/reduced green fees at the club you joined (as a member) as well as at other clubs around the country. For example, if you join "club A" you will receive benefits for this club as well as discounted green fees for other clubs around South Africa. Please note that affliated rates do vary at each club and are dependant on the club's advertised fees. Some clubs don't have an affiliated fee and in this case other advertised fees apply.

How long is my membership for?

Your membership is valid for one full year from the day you paid your membership fee until the same day the following year. ie 1 March 2010 - 1 March 2011. The membership is also paid in full with no prorata payments.

Can I play golf at any golf club and receive the affiliation fee?

You can play golf at most golf courses throughout South Africa and receive the affiliation fee. A golf course does need to be registered with the SAGA (South African Golf Association) in order for the affiliation to apply. There are just under +-500 golf courses that are registered with SAGA golf courses throughout South Africa which covers about 95% of the listed courses. Please note that affiliated rates do vary at each club and are dependent on the club's advertised fees. Some clubs don't have an affiliated fee and in this case other advertised fees apply.

What forms of payment does Golf Connection accept?

For local clients we accept cash, bank deposit & EFT (internet transfer) and credit card (for some products). For international clients we ONLY accept credit card payments (due to expensive fees for the transfer of monies from an international to local bank account).

How long does it take to become a member of the club?

Once you have signed up and paid your membership, you'll receive a confirmation of membership by email between 12 and 24 hours or less. This letter serves as proof of your membership and can be presented at other golf clubs to start benefiting from the affiliated green fees immediately. Your card will arrive with you +- 3 - 4 weeks from application.

How long does it take to get an Official handicap card?

It takes +-3 - 4 weeks before the card arrives at your chosen postal destination. We do send an sms notifying you that your card is being posted so you have a clear indication of when to expect it. All official cards are sent via South African registered post services so we will be able to track them via the tracking service (local to South Africa Only). If you reside outside of South Africa your card will be posted via normal post.

How do I get an official handicap?

With your membership you automatically qualify for an official handicap from the South African Golf Association (SAGA). You need at least a minimum of 5 recent scores of rounds played on any recognised golf course of 18 holes.

How often are handicaps updated?

Handicap calculations are done monthly on the 1st of every month.
